Using other types of punctuation e.g. question marks, commas (in lists) exclamation marks, apostrophes, speech marks and brackets.

Numeracy
 
Counting
read and write numbers up to 1000 in figures and in words
explain the pattern for a sequence of numbers and work out the next few numbers in the list
write numbers in order and position them on a number line
use the greater than and less than symbols to show that one number is larger or smaller than another
say roughly how many there are in a group of objects
Partitioning
use partitioning to help me to carry out calculations e.g. (137) 100+30+7=137
Calculating
add and subtract two-digit numbers using practical equipment or written notes to help me
know when it is easier to use addition to work out a subtraction
work out the missing number in a number sentence such as 14 + ? = 35
listen carefully to someone explaining how they solved a problem, and ask a question or suggest another method
Securing number facts
decide which calculations are needed to solve a two-step word problem
know which pairs of numbers make 20
know all the pairs of multiples of 10 that make 100
know the doubles of all the numbers up to 20
know my 2, 5 and 10 times-tables and can work out the division facts that go with them
can tell if a number is a multiple of 2, 5 or 10
check answers to calculations involving doubling by halving the answer
Understanding shape
describe and continue the pattern for a set of numbers or shapes
match familiar solids to their pictures
ICT
Researching different types of plants and animals
Viewing video clips of plants and animals.
Recording observations using a digital camera
Copy and pasting images from Google searches (topic related)
Supporting our learning in other subjects e.g. word
processing in Literacy, accessing numeracy software to help develop their understanding.
 
Geography
We will be looking at our local area;
making maps, plotting information about types of plants and animals that we have found, comparing plants and animals that we find at the Hawthorns Study centre and suggesting ways in which we might improve our local area for plants and animals.
Art
We will be using drawing skills to record information from first hand observations about plants and animals.
Science
We will be learning:
Life processes
-that animals, including humans, move, feed, grow, use their senses and reproduce,
-to relate life processes to animals and plants found in the local environment.
Humans and other animals
-that humans and other animals need food and water to stay alive,
-how to treat animals with care and sensitivity.
Variation and classification
-recognise similarities and differences between themselves and others, and to treat others with sensitivity,
-group living things according to observable similarities and differences.
Living things in their environment
-find out about the different kinds of plants and animals in the local environment,
-identify similarities and differences between local environments and ways in which these affect animals and plants that are found there,
-care for the environment.
SEAL
(Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning)
Relationships - This theme focuses specifically on feelings. It explores feelings within the context of our important relationships including family and friends. The theme aims to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in three key social and emotional aspects of learning: self-awareness, managing feelings and empathy.

Visiting a library use a computer, look closely at an outdoor space to find out more about different types of plants and animals.
