Industrial Action: July 5th 2016

As you may be aware from the recent media coverage, the NUT (teacher’s union) has called for a one day strike on Tuesday 5th July 2016.  This is in relation to their concerns over changes to pay and conditions.

The action (a one day strike) is not against the school itself but is part of national industrial action organised by the union.

There is no requirement for unions to inform us of which members of staff will take action, as there is no obligation on members of unions to obey a strike call.  However, in the interest of your child’s safety and welfare, we requested that teaching colleagues advise us as to whether they intend to take action.  We have been informed of the decisions made by members of the NUT and I have a high number of staff taking action.  This means that the school will be closed for the following classes next Tuesday:-

Year R   -   Rabbits and Owls

Year 1   -   Otters and Squirrels

Year 2   -   Kestrels, Badgers and Foxes

If your child is in Hedgehogs or Robins, please bring him/her to school as usual.

We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause and thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support.
